1. Who we are
MegaSocial is a social media operations platform for scheduling, publishing, engagement, analytics, and related marketing tools. We process data as a service provider for the accounts and projects you manage in MegaSocial.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the Service, we may collect:
- Account information — email address, username, password (stored as a secure hash), and profile settings you provide.
- Billing information — subscription plan, payment status, and related identifiers. Card payments are processed by our payment provider (e.g. Stripe); we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
- Connected social accounts — OAuth tokens, account/page IDs, and profile metadata needed to publish, sync comments/DMs, and retrieve performance metrics from platforms you connect (for example LinkedIn, Meta/Facebook/Instagram, Threads, YouTube, Pinterest, Google Business, Buffer, and similar integrations).
- Content and project data — posts, drafts, media references, schedules, brand/product materials, SEO and analytics data, engagement conversations, contacts, and other content you create or import into MegaSocial.
- Usage and technical data — logs related to AI and API usage, feature activity, IP address, browser/device information, and diagnostic logs needed to operate and secure the Service.
- Communications — messages you send us (support, contact forms) and transactional emails related to your account.
- Cookies — cookies and similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and (where enabled) analytics. See our cookie notice in the app for choices we offer.
3. How we use information
We use personal and account data to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
- Authenticate users and secure accounts
- Connect to third-party platforms you authorize and perform publishing, sync, and analytics
- Process subscriptions, credits, and billing
- Generate or assist with content using AI features you request
- Send service emails (verification, password reset, important notices)
- Detect abuse, troubleshoot issues, and comply with legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use connected social account content to train public AI models for unrelated third parties.
4. Legal bases (where applicable)
Where required by law (for example under the GDPR), we process data based on:
- Contract — to provide the Service you signed up for
- Legitimate interests — security, product improvement, and operations
- Consent — where we ask for it (e.g. certain cookies or optional features)
- Legal obligation — when we must retain or disclose information by law
5. Sharing of information
We may share information with:
- Social platforms you connect — to publish content and retrieve data you request through those APIs, subject to each platform’s terms and policies.
- Service providers — hosting, database, email delivery, payment processing, AI providers, and similar vendors who process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
- Legal and safety — if required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of MegaSocial, our users, or the public.
- Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required.
6. Third-party platforms
When you connect a social or analytics account, MegaSocial accesses only the permissions you grant. Those platforms have their own privacy policies. Revoking access in MegaSocial (or in the platform’s app settings) stops future API access; some historical data may remain in MegaSocial until you delete it or request removal.
7. Data retention
We retain account and project data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After account closure or an approved deletion request, we delete or anonymize personal data within a reasonable period, except where we must retain limited records for legal, security, billing, or dispute-resolution purposes.
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:
- Access, correct, or update your account information
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Export or obtain a copy of certain data you provided
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To request data removal, see Data removal or email [email protected] from your account email address.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect data in transit and at rest, including access controls and encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong unique password and keep your login credentials confidential.
10. International transfers
MegaSocial may process data in New Zealand and in other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Children’s privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 16 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.
